1. Capturing the Golden Hour in Spectacular surroundings.
The Ultimate pictures are created when you add epic landscapes to magic light. The best way to do that is to camp in the Namib desert, of course.
As every good photographer knows, the golden hour is when the light turns magic, and all your photos look that much better. The picture above is of the Rock Pool mountain near sunset. In this image, it’s the warm colors and long shadows that draws attention.
2. Night Shots / Starry skies.
Have you ever seen the Milky Way? Have you seen the stars that make up your star sign? The light pollution from a town washes out all the faint stars, and only the most bright ones are visible. Cloud cover also does not help, of course.
On a camp you are far away from light pollution the stars are brighter, making shots like the one above possible.
The shot above was taken at night on a camp at Spitzkoppe. See the stars between the clouds? The moon was fairly bright that night, bright enough to add color to the scene. Being hyper-arid, the Namib desert most nights are cloudless, allowing for amazing star scapes to be captured. On full moon nights it’s possible to walk around without a flashlight. On moonless nights the stars are so bright that it feels like you can touch them.
Safety & Security
Tour vehicles in Namibia are held to a higher standard, with yearly roadworthy inspections to ensure that they make it back from the camp! As NTB registered vehicles, the person in each seat is insured for N$ 5 million.
Your guide is a professional driver that has in-date first aid training, and the vehicle has a first aid kit along with all the other gear needed on a camp. You are in good hands!
Because the camp sites are in remote areas with no one else around, you and your gear is perfectly safe.

You are able to afford a camp out in the wilderness when you concentrate on what is truly important. The guide and vehicle together will cost you less than renting a 4×4. Surprisingly little is needed to be comfortable out in nature. The know-how is coming along with you.
If you prefer more luxury, everything you need for glamping in your own style is available, just add optional extras! Any combination of number of people and optional extras are possible. Because of the low price guarantee, you don’t pay for anything you don’t use.

Vogelvederberg
Very close, with a good road leading up to it. Watch the sun set over the desert from the top of the mountain. This is your cheapest getaway. Really good vistas in every direction, and nice short hiking trials.
60 km out of Walvis Bay on a nice road.

Pass the stunning Moon Valley and see the Welwitschia plains. Incredible rock formations. Nice hiking & exploring options, good shade trees.

Gobabeb Training and Research Center
Drive up the stunning Kuiseb River banks. Meet the scientists, have nature walks into the river. The drive to this locations is absolutely stunning, and is a whole day adventure. Plenty of opportunity to meet the locals.
100 km out of Walvis Bay, following the Kuiseb River from Rooibank.

Ganab Watering Hole
View the wildlife at the watering hole. There are incredible views from the mountains, as well as secret camping spots. Wildlife are more common in years with good rain. Otherwise the rocky plains are quite forbidding.
120 km out of Walvis Bay. Road up to Vogels is good, then it is a bit of washboard up to the Ganab turn off.

Blutkoppe
Incredible scenery, with hikes up to the caves with beautiful formations. The mountain gets it’s name from the reddish color the mountain assumes at sunset.
150 km out of Walvis Bay

Tinkas
Visit Blutkoppe, hike up to the caves, then a nice off road trail past the Tinkas dam and camp at the natural rock arch. Good opportunities to explore on foot. Lovely open desert vistas.

Spitzkoppe
Lots to see and do. Natural Rock Arch, Matterhorn, Bushmen Art. More amenities, like well-maintained toilets, a communal open air shower. Quite popular, especially after good rains.
