COVID-19 update – protest
Grumbles of protest have been getting stronger from all the business sectors. The number of COVID cases popping up in the rest of the country is increasing, as predicted. It’s getting downplayed massively too, also as predicted. With the fourth month in lock down now finishing up, people’s resources are getting stretched thin.
On Saturday there was a peaceful protest, asking our esteemed leaders to please lift the lock-down between the coast and the rest of Namibia. The reason for the road blocks and such was to try and lessen the flow of the disease to the other regions, but this seems to have failed.
The only thing that remains now is social distancing, and strict improved personal hygiene, along with not touching anything that you don’t have to. We’ll wait for the immunization, and hopefully the world will be a little less crazy soon.
Our little camp
Isolde and I decided not to go to the protest, and rather spent the afternoon and night at a little camp in the desert. It was lovely sleeping under the stars. We did not go far, as we have some stunning desert really close.
The weather played along beautifully, blessing us with just the slightest of breezes while we were setting up camp and enjoying a gin and tonic at sunset. We decided to BBQ a little pork shoulder for me and pork belly for Isolde.
Snacks aside, we slept on stretchers through the night, with the canopy of stars blinking at us through crystal clear skies. We were still close enough to Walvis Bay that it’s lights was a little bit of a bother on the horizon, but this did not deter us in the least from looking up our star signs in the sky.
The breeze freshened up a little through the night, and since it was coming in from the desert it was quite cool. Thankfully, with enough blankets and cuddling we had enough heat between the two of us to continue stargazing until the sun came up.
The rest of the week was un-eventful for us… just biding our time and trying to keep busy. Thinking of new and innovative ideas on how to help the people around us.
Faster internet
Telecom has been building a new connection point for all the internet things in Meersig, our residential area. Finally they switched us over to the new facilities, but they are now dragging their feet on the promised upgrade.
Vega – Strike
Vega Strike accepted me as a contributor, which is a little bit of an honor for someone that does not code… yet. This lockdown might be long enough for me to learn a new skill. 🙂
Below are the pictures for the week. For this week we stay on the roads in the South.
